GUILD & NON-GUILD COUNSELLORS

Our early attachments shape the way we relate to others, the world and ourselves. Throughout life we are confronted with new challenges and anxieties, but the thread of attachment runs from cradle to grave.

This course, held over 7 Saturdays, draws on theory and research to deepen understanding of attachment themes throughout the life cycle. It will have a strong experiential component with participants reflecting on their own attachment histories and those of their clients with the aim of informing therapeutic practice.

It will be relevant to psychotherapists, counsellors, child and family therapists working in any setting. It is unusual in considering the role of attachment in the workplace and in spiritual matters, as well as in personal relationships and internal dynamics.

Linda Cundy is an Attachment-Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and experienced teacher/ trainer. She works at the School of Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regent’s College and has had a long association with the Wimbledon Guild.

She is involved in the work of a bereavement counselling service and has a private practice. Her interests are in anxiety disorders, the effects of trauma and loss, and in a rapprochement between attachment theory and object relations.

The course will be held at Drake House, the Guild’s Training Centre at the rear of Guild House in central Wimbledon.
