Dr Jeffrey Young PhD is the originator of Schema Therapy and is the director of the Cognitive Therapy Centre,
New York.
He is the author of several books on Schema Therapy and is an internationally renowned lecturer.

When a couple comes for counselling it may be their only attempt to save their marriage or partnership. Couples work has special problems: frequently both parties are anxious about the counsellor not being able to understand their perspective; often one or other of the couple is very ambivalent about counselling as an intervention in the
first place.

The work is complex: the patterns of interaction can be abstruse with many
layers of personal meaning and history that take time to unravel. In addition the complexity of the individual’s
psychology is multiplied by that of
their partner.

This two-day workshop will focus on the application of the Schema Model to couples therapy and will be
accompanied by video footage of actual sessions that give examples of the use of ST interventions in vivo.

Participants must be therapists or counsellors who are fully qualified or at an advanced stage of training.

The workshop assumes a basic understanding of the Schema and Mode concepts. Interested therapists who have not attended a previous workshop may gain such an understanding from reading any of Jeff Young’s books
(available through Amazon).

The workshop will consist primarily of lectures and will take place in the
comfortable and pleasant surroundings of The Hurlingham Club.
