If you can’t get to Wimbledon Guild, we’ll come to you.
To get a true sense of our wonderful community it’s always best to visit Wimbledon Guild in person. But if you can’t get to us, don’t worry - we’ll connect you with one of our wonderful volunteers who will visit you at home instead.
Nearly all of us have felt lonely at some point in our lives, and these days it can be hard to start up conversations with people you meet out and about.
Befriending is about community and connection. Our team connect local people based on shared interests and location so that you can meet up regularly for a cuppa and a chat.
Most visits are in person, but we do have some telephone befrienders.
Who we can help
We can match you with a Wimbledon Guild Volunteer Befriender if you:
- Live in Merton
- Are housebound and/or
- Live alone and/or
- Are recently bereaved and/or
- Have been diagnosed with a long-term health condition
Become a volunteer Befriender
If you can spare a few hours a week to support someone with a cup of tea and a chat you can make a huge difference to someone’s life.
More people than ever are asking for our help so please get in touch – there’s always someone waiting for your visit or call!
We’ll be here to support you and will keep in touch regularly to see how you’re getting on.
“I might not have changed the world but I have positively changed a life. I've gained a good friend and my visits are so rewarding.” - Nurdan
