Council Tax Rebate

Are you an older person receiving council tax support?

If so, you should’ve received a letter from Merton Council including a £125 Post Office voucher. This is not a scam. It is part of the council’s response to rising energy costs. You only have until Sunday 31st July to redeem the voucher to claim your £125, so please check your post if you haven’t received it.

Are you owed a council tax rebate?

  • Are you responsible for paying council tax (even if you receive support for this)?
  • Are you in band A – D?
  • Do you pay your council tax some other way than direct debit?

If you answered yes to all of the above then you are owed a £150 rebate. You can still claim £150 if you receive council tax support and don’t actually pay your council tax yourself.

If you have not yet claimed your rebate, you can apply on the Merton Council website. If you would like support with doing this, please ask at reception in Guild House or call 020 8946 0735.
