Head of Talking Therapies

Founded in 1907, Wimbledon Guild exists to ensure that people in Merton lead happy and fulfilled lives. Responding to the needs of our community, our key service aims are to reduce isolation and loneliness, help people who are experiencing difficulties and enabling older people to be active and healthy. Last year, Wimbledon Guild worked with over 2,000 individuals from across the borough providing a huge range of community services including Talking Therapies.

The Talking Therapies department offers Individual Counselling, Psychotherapy, Group Psychotherapy, Family Therapy, Support Groups, and CPD professional training events. The department works predominantly psychodynamically with Family Therapy working to a Systemic approach. We offer a sliding scale of fees depending on our clients’ means and offer the service to adults living, working or studying in the London Borough of Merton.

Our new Head of Talking Therapies will lead, inspire and motivate our talking therapies staff and volunteers through dynamic and person-centred leadership. They will take responsibility for the strategic development of the service whilst ensuring efficiency, clinical safety and high-quality service delivery at all times. With a background in counselling and psychotherapy, you will bring extensive experience of working clinically with staff from a range of professional settings.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to create future departmental and organisational strategies. You will form part of our Senior Management Team (SMT), and work collaboratively in contributing to the organisation’s overall management, development and strategic oversight; balancing individual departmental needs with those of the charity as a whole.

You will be a strong internal and external collaborator, able to build new alliances and partnerships with statutory and voluntary organisations and work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service.
